The ‘South African Handmade Collection’ (SAHC) is a dti initiative which profiles and brands the craft sector. It is the banner under which craft enterprises will showcase their products at local and international trade platforms. The brand is being developed to ensure high quality, design led, well manufactured, environmentally-friendly South African craft products which adopt the principles of fair trade. Enterprises participating under this brand are provided with market access opportunities and enterprise development support. SAHC 2008 saw a total of 200 exhibitors taking part and 38 992 consumer visitors, 3100 trade visitors and 14 international buyers.
